The swearing in of Northport Village Trustees Dave Weber and Rich Boziwick, along with the board’s organization agenda, took place on Wednesday, April 3.
Mayor Donna Koch reappointed Meghan Dolan as deputy mayor. The board also approved the following designations of commissioners, as appointed by Koch:
Commissioner of Finance: Mayor Donna Koch
Commissioner of Police: Deputy Mayor Meghan Dolan
Commissioner of Parks: Deputy Mayor Meghan Dolan
Commissioner of Commerce: Trustee Rich Boziwick
Commissioner of Public Works and Highways: Trustee Rich Boziwick
Commissioner of Docks & Waterways: Trustee Dave Weber
Commissioner of Waste Water Treatment: Trustee Dave Weber
Commissioner of Sanitation: Trustee Joe Sabia
Commissioner of Personnel: Mayor Donna Koch and Trustee Joe Sabia
“I’d like to thank the residents of the Village of Northport for their support. I greatly appreciate it,” said newly elected Trustee Boziwick during his commissioners report. “I look forward to serving you and I think it’s very exciting for me, and an exciting time for the Village of Northport, because I know there are a lot of projects we’re going to move along quickly,” he added.
Trustee Weber welcomed Boziwick to the board and said that he’s looking forward to the next few years. “I want to thank the residents for their overwhelming support, for both Rich and I,” Weber said, noting that the number of people who voted during this election, which is considered an “off year” without the mayor’s seat up for election, shows that they want to be involved in the community.
Mayor Koch congratulated the trustees and stated that the Village has many projects in the works and a busy year ahead. She listed several major projects, including stormwater runoff mitigation, the continuation of the dock repair and rebuild, supporting the Town of Huntington’s ongoing efforts to dredge the harbor, the basketball court and new bathrooms in Cow Harbor Park, the Main Street downtown revitalization with new sidewalks, trees and lighting, and the installation of new meters, which are on order and should be installed by Memorial Day, Koch explained.
“I know in the last two years that we’ve talked about transparency, and I’d like to add some new words to the list: honesty, integrity and decency. That’s my commitment to you,” Koch said.
