The Force returns to Northport this Saturday, May 2 with Star Wars Day
Star Wars Day returns to Northport Village this Saturday, May 2, with a Padawan Crawl for kids (pictured here checking in to last year’s event) during the day and trivia-themed Cantina Crawl for adults later in the afternoon.
The second Star Wars Day celebration of its kind returns to Northport this weekend, thanks to local pop-up event company History Repeatn’ and community businesses who participate in the day’s offerings, which include Star Wars-themed activities for all ages in Northport Village.
History Repeatn’s Star Wars Day will take place on Saturday, May 2; like last year, the Village-wide event will bring together fans of the epic space-opera saga with photo opps, a family-friendly scavenger hunt and a Star Wars-themed pub crawl for adults, all while supporting the nonprofit Paws of War.
“It’s amazing to see Star Wars fans of all ages come together, connect with these great Northport businesses, and support an incredible local organization,” said John N. Daniello, co-founder of History Repeatn’. “That kind of community energy is what History Repeatn’ is all about.”
The event begins with the family-friendly Padawan Crawl through Main Street, where History Repeatn’ has partnered with local businesses to offer a variety of crafts and giveaways for children.
The crawl will kick off at 11am, with check-in at the courtyard of Trinity Episcopal Church. There, families can snap photos with Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia before beginning a Star Wars-themed scavenger hunt, presented by History Repeatn’.
The “Journey to Jedi” scavenger hunt will give children the opportunity to explore the Village at their own pace while searching for familiar faces from their favorite saga.
“We’ve been looking forward to bringing this event back,” said Pete Gallo, co-founder of History Repeatn’. “Last year, we met visitors from all over who came to Northport to have a great time.”
For an optional additional fee, families can visit SweetArts for a Star Wars-themed painting craft, or take a trip to LICs Ice Cream to taste its limited-time “The Dark Side” ice cream.
Later in the day, a Star Wars-themed pub crawl for ages 21 and over, led by Princess Leia, will challenge participants with Star Wars trivia as they visit Sand City Brewery, LA PORTA, Feed & Grain and Rockin’ Fish for themed drinks, specials and more. Costumes are strongly encouraged.
Throughout the day, attendees will be able to purchase Chewbacca Chances for a chance to win a Star Wars grand prize and gift cards to Einstein’s Attic. Proceeds from the Padawan Crawl and Chewbacca Chances support Paws of War, a Long Island nonprofit dedicated to providing service dogs to veterans and first responders. A recommended donation of $5 per child helps support this organization.
“We had the pleasure of recording a special episode of our podcast with Paws of War earlier this year,” said Carol Taylor, co-founder of History Repeatn’. “They’re such an amazing organization, and we’re happy to support them.”
