Artists and onlookers celebrated the natural beauty of a “plein air” experience this past weekend, as Northport’s The Firefly Gallery hosted its inaugural Paint Northport event, a get-together designed to bring artists of all kinds outdoors to practice their art in the company of others.

Firefly managing partner Drigo Morin helped create the event to bring community artists together to network, and find inspiration in the shared experience.

A handful of artists joined Drigo in the northwest corner of Village Park, taking in and interpreting in their own ways the water views and Village dock.

Andrea Moon, a Commack resident, described the experience as “good for the soul,” a perfect way to get out and socialize with other artists, while getting real-time feedback that helped her own painting, a landscape of the park’s sycamore trees and iconic gazebo.

Drigo was hopeful Paint Northport could be a recurring event, one that continues to bring together and inspire local artists and their fans.
