Senator Mario Mattera visited Northport High School last week to recognize All-Long Island student athletes as well as the athletic teams that earned league, county and Long Island championships.

During his February 8 visit, the senator provided proclamations to members of the field hockey team for their Section XI and Long Island Class A championships, girls cross country for their Section XI championship, and boys golf for their league and conference championships.

He also gave individual proclamations to field hockey player Caitlin O’Malley, and cross-country runners Mia Wickard and Brandon Cruz for earning All-Long Island recognitions.

While at the high school, Senator Mattera acknowledged the pride the students bring to their families and school community, expressing gratitude for their hard work and commitment to their respective athletic programs. Senator Mattera also spoke of the role that parents play in their childrens’ success, including driving them to practices and supporting them at games and sporting events.

Each student received a certificate of acknowledgement.
