As a precursor to its August 22 board of education (BOE) meeting, during which “community engagement goals” will be discussed, the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District announced yesterday the launch of a new notification system which will be used to share BOE meeting notices and agendas, board communications such as letters to the community, and supporting documents with all those signed up to receive the notifications.
The “Board of Education Information Notification System” is limited to residents of the Northport-East Northport community. “As a resident of our community, we value your interest in staying up to date on the latest developments in our school district,” read an announcement emailed to residents via Parent Square on Wednesday, August 14. “By signing up, you will receive timely updates and emails related to Board of Education meetings and other important communications.”
When signing up for notifications, residents will have the option to join one or both of two community groups: the Board of Education Information Notification System and/or the district’s Community Notification System, an existing system for residents who do not have students currently enrolled in the district and wouldn’t otherwise receive communications such as the district’s emailed newsletters or updates sent after board meetings.
Residents wishing to join the notification system/s can sign up here. More information on the new notification system, including informational aids to assist people in navigating BoardDocs, a separate website housing BOE agendas, policies and more, can be found here.
The next NEN BOE meeting is scheduled for 7pm on Thursday, August 22 at the Brosnan building. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dave Moyer also has plans to hold four superintendent coffees throughout the year, though the dates for those meetings have not yet been set.
