The Northport-East Northport UFSD PTA Council announced late last week its annual Meet the Candidates forum, scheduled for Tuesday, May 10 from 7:30-9:30pm. Residents wishing to submit questions must do so via email by Wednesday, May 4 at 5pm.

On the ballot this year for NENUFSD Board of Education trustee is newcomer Frank Labate as well as incumbents Larry Licopoli, Thomas Loughran and Allison Noonan. The four candidates are running for three seats.

The format as described by the PTA is as follows:

  • Candidates will start with a two-minute opening statement.

  • Questions will be asked in a round-robin format in the order candidates appear on the ballot. The candidate who is given the question first will have one minute to respond and all other candidates will have thirty seconds to weigh in.

  • The moderator will ask all questions to the candidates. Live questions will be allowed by in person audience members if time allows. The moderator will continue to ask questions until all questions have been asked or time runs out at 9:15pm.

  • The PTA Council has sole discretion as to what questions are asked, so some may be edited or combined to save time and if deemed necessary, due to inappropriateness, discarded.

  • No questions may be addressed to individual candidates and must be answered by all candidates.

  • Each candidate will have an opportunity to make a one-minute closing statement.

  • The event will end at 9:30pm.

The Meet the Candidates forum will take place on May 10 in the William J. Brosnan cafeteria at 158 Laurel Avenue in Northport. Any residents wishing to submit a question may do so by emailing nptptacouncil@gmail.com. All questions must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, May 4. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available here.
