Recovery Month to launch with flag raising at Village Hall followed by evening candlelight vigil

September is National Recovery Month; the NENDATF will recognize its launch with a press conference and flag raising at Village Hall this Thursday, August 28.

The Northport East Northport Community Drug & Alcohol Task Force, Inc. will launch National Recovery Month with a press conference and the ceremonial raising of the Recovery Flag at noon on Thursday, August 28 at Northport Village Hall.

The Recovery Flag serves as a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and unity for individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder. This event will bring together community leaders, elected officials, and residents to stand in solidarity with those in recovery and to highlight the importance of prevention, treatment, and support.

“Recovery Month reminds us that recovery is possible and worth celebrating,” said [Your Name], Executive Director of the Task Force. “By raising the Recovery Flag, we are sending a clear message that our community supports individuals and families on their journey toward healing and wellness.”

Elected officials, community partners, and the public are invited to attend. The event will include brief remarks from local leaders and coalition representatives before the raising of the flag.

National Recovery Month, observed every September, is dedicated to promoting awareness and understanding of substance use disorder, celebrating individuals in recovery, and recognizing the work of prevention, treatment, and recovery support services.

The group’s annual Night of Remembrance Candlelight Vigil will be held that evening, beginning at 7pm in Northport Village Park.
