Parents from Posey School of Dance are offering business sponsorships for their annual Nutcracker performance, with a twist. Sarah Abbass and Sisa Suriel are inviting community members to sponsor a local business for the school’s Nutcracker Commemorative Journal. “Our local shops and restaurants have supported our community for many years and we would like to simply say ‘thank you,’” they wrote in a letter to residents.

Businesses throughout Northport are asked throughout the year to sponsor events, ads and organizations, and they are always willing to help, even during the slower winter months. This year, Ms. Abbass and Suriel, who are organizing the 2022 Posey Nutcracker Commemorative Journal, are asking community members to consider choosing a Northport business to sponsor instead. “Let's thank our local businesses for all of the support they provide throughout the year for the greater Northport community,” they said.

The Commemorative Journal is distributed to the audience during Posey’s four performances of The Nutcracker at Northport Middle School, from December 16 to December 18. The goal of this year’s drive is to find a sponsor for every business in Northport Village. A full-page advertisement costs $40; residents can choose a specific business to sponsor, or contribute any amount to a general business advertising fund. All sponsored businesses will also get a Nutcracker image to hang in their windows, which displays the community’s support and highlights the show.

Posey Dance Repertory Company is a non-profit performing arts and educational organization located on Main Street in Northport Village. The company’s mission is to provide meaningful performance opportunities for local dancers and to enrich the Northport community with live classical ballet performances.

To sponsor a business, use this form. If you have a business in mind that you don’t see on this list, you can reach out to Sara Abbass at smabbass13@gmail.com to confirm whether that business has already been sponsored.
