The Northport-East Northport Public Library will host a unique online event featuring Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai on Wednesday, October 22 at 7pm. During the conversation, Yousafzai will discuss her new memoir, Finding My Way, offering a deeply personal look at her life beyond the news headlines.
At just 15 years old, Yousafzai became an international symbol of courage after surviving a Taliban attack in Pakistan for advocating for girls’ education. Since then, she has continued to inspire the world with her commitment to education and women’s rights. In Finding My Way, she shares the story of her own personal growth, navigating the challenges of self-discovery, university life, friendship and relationships, all while continuing to process the trauma that shaped her early years.
The memoir is an honest and often humorous account of growing up in the spotlight. Yousafzai reflects on moments like nearly failing exams, learning to trust others and finding love, showing that even those who inspire us most are human, not perfect.
Yousafzai’s remarkable journey began in Mingora, Pakistan, where she was born in 1997. In 2014, she became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for her advocacy of girls’ education. Since then, she’s continued her work as an education activist and writer, with her previous memoir, I Am Malala, gaining international recognition. She’s also produced an award-winning film about her life and remains a leading voice for women’s rights.
Don't miss this opportunity to hear directly from Yousafzai as she shares insights from her memoir and reflects on the personal journey that led her to become one of the world’s most influential figures.
