Never forget: ENFD to honor the fallen at candlelight vigil this evening

The East Northport Fire Department will host a candlelight vigil tonight at 8pm to honor the lives lost and those who responded on September 11, 2001.
A candlelight vigil honoring the lives lost, the heroes who responded and the families who were forever changed on September 11, 2001 will be held at 8pm this evening, at the East Northport Fire Department headquarters on Ninth Avenue.
“Today we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil. Among them were 343 firefighters and 71 law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Sadly, the toll continues to grow as rescue and recovery workers face long-term health effects from their service at Ground Zero,” fire department officials shared on their social media page in the lead up to the annual event.
Though morning services were not held this year, a 9-11 memorial is always open and available for quiet reflection and tribute.
“Let us stand together as a community to remember the past, honor the fallen, and continue the promise to never forget,” the department said.
