Two menorah lightings will celebrate the Festival of Lights this year, one in Northport Village this evening and another in Huntington on Monday.
Join Rabbi Walvick and fellow congregants and friends at the East Northport Jewish Center annual community candle lighting for song, prayer and the lighting of the menorah. The event begins at 7pm at the entrance to Northport Harbor, at Woodbine and Main Street.
The town of Huntington’s annual menorah lighting will take place on Monday, December 30, at 5pm in the “Huntington Holiday Spectacular” at Wall and Main Street.
Supervisor Ed Smyth and Rabbi Yaakov Raskin of the Chabad of Huntington Village will be joined by town board members, elected officials and the Huntington community for the celebration. This annual event is co-sponsored by Northwell Health and the Huntington Village Business Improvement District (BID).
For over 35 years the town and the Chabad of Huntington Village have lit the menorah to usher in the Festival of Lights, which this year began on December 25.
Highlights of the night’s event will feature special musical guest, South African-born guitarist and composer Toby Tobias. Tobias shares his story of hope through music. The night will also include a fire show and juggling by acclaimed entertainment professional Greg Milstein and will conclude with traditional Hanukkah treats of sufganiyot (jelly donuts), chocolate gelt and hot chocolate.
