As a child, Lauren Errick loved walking the shores of her hometown, bucket in hand, on an adventure of exploration: a hunt for seashells any kid who lives by the beach can fondly relate to. The 24-year-old Northport resident still revels in a good sea-shelling experience (she loves visiting Asharoken Beach), using the color, shape and texture of her finds as inspiration for her recently launched business, Le Gaudere.
Le Guadere’s “resort wear jewelry” collections are inspired by nature; Errick transforms what moves her most into sculptural pieces with a fluidity and movement that capture both the seashells they’re designed to preserve, and the waves that brought them to shore. She harnesses a detail-oriented precision honed as a child and masterfully employs it in her designs, bringing the shells’ features and color to life via her metal and enamel jewelry.
“It’s about creating a world and creating a feeling in a piece of jewelry,” she said. Each piece of jewelry has a story, she said, one which she hopes to share with those who wear and witness it.
A 2017 St. Anthony’s graduate, Errick studied fashion at Parsons School of Design before officially launching her jewelry brand in 2022. On Saturday, October 7, Errick will return to Nest on Main in Northport Village for her second pop-up shop, featuring a new display of Le Gaudere’s seashell jewelry.
“I think it will speak to a lot of people,” Errick said. “I’m very happy to be working with Nest and the community. It’s great to be able to showcase myself and my jewelry in a local store because it’s so specific to Northport.”
