Holiday cheer is back with a bustling schedule: The 2025 season begins soon

As cold weather settles in and daylight fades a little earlier each evening, the community is already buzzing with anticipation for the holiday season ahead. While Northport and Huntington prepare to usher in the season, these cherished community traditions, from festive lightings to small business celebrations, guarantee to bring families and friends together in shared spirit.
Northport Holiday Tree Lighting
Northport’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting will take place on Friday, November 28 at 7pm in Northport Village Park. Expect caroling, community cheer and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will arrive aboard Northport fire trucks. Chosen by Northport Mayor Donna Koch this year to light the tree is Deputy Mayor Meghan Dolan Saporita, her husband Greg and their three children.
Northport Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday will take place in Northport Village on November 29 from 12 to 3pm. Pick up a red tote filled with coupons and offerings from local businesses at the information booth in Northport Village Park.
Northport’s 20th Annual Lighting of the Leg Lamp
What began 20 years ago as a gag gift in Main Street’s hardware store window has become one of Northport’s most beloved holiday traditions. The 20th Annual Lighting of the Leg Lamp will take place on Saturday, November 29 from 6:30 to 7:30pm in front of The Firefly Artists on Main Street. The event will feature performances by the Northport High School Tigerettes, Posey School of Dance and the Community Playhouse of Northport, with Shipwreck Diner providing hot cocoa.
Huntington Holiday Spectacular
The Huntington Holiday Spectacular on Wall Street kicks off with the annual tree lighting on Saturday, November 29 at approximately 6:30pm, following the Nautical Holiday Parade beginning at 5:30pm from Home Depot on New York Avenue. The Holiday Spectacular will be on display until January 4.
East Northport Community Tree Lighting
There will be lights, music and holiday cheer on Tuesday, December 2, at the annual East Northport tree lighting. Come at 6pm to Railroad Plaza (Clock Tower Park) on Larkfield Road for holiday music and caroling, hot cocoa and cookies, photos with Santa and the lighting of the tree.
Huntington Small Business Thursdays
Small Business Thursdays will take place alongside the Holiday Spectacular on December 4, 11, and 18 from 5 to 9pm, when local merchants will line Wall Street with festive offerings and seasonal items for sale.
Annual Huntington Menorah Lighting
The Menorah Lighting in Huntington will take place on Monday, December 15 at 5pm on Wall Street in Huntington Village. It will feature Huntington musician Toby Tobias, festive balloons, an ice sculpture Menorah show and chocolate gelt and donuts.
Chanukah at the Harbor
This annual event and menorah lighting at Northport Harbor takes place in December. Check back for specific dates and times.

Get into the holiday spirit at Santaport, a cherished Centerport holiday tradition at Centerport United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 22, from 10am to 3pm. New to the traditional “boutique” treasures event is a Christmas Market, inspired by holiday street fairs, which will feature festive handcrafted gifts, Christmas decorations, baked goods and more. Bring a camera for pictures with Santa, meet local author Sarah Zagaja and therapy dog, Fenway and enjoy a Kid Zone with holiday crafts and games.
