In July, the Northport Journal, in partnership with the Engeman Theater, held a giveaway for our local Junie B. Jones fans; the winner was invited to see Junie B. Jones The Musical at the theater and write a review about it. Thank you to Fifth Avenue Elementary School fourth grader Abigail Pun for participating! You can read her review below.
Last Sunday I went to see Junie B. Jones the musical at the Engeman Theater in downtown Northport with my five-year-old sister, cousin and mom and all of us really enjoyed it!
I thought the six cast members did a really amazing job playing so many different characters. I was super excited to see that one of the cast members [Alyssa Infranco, who played Sheldon, Camille and Lennie] was actually my music and movement assistant teacher at my summer music program.
I was impressed by how they changed the set so quickly and smoothly. I think that the journal backdrop was a really nice feature in the show. I also thought the costumes were great. My favorite song was “Lucille, Camille and Chenille” because it was a catchy and upbeat song, very much like the rest of the songs in the musical.
There were a lot of parts that made me laugh, especially when Gladys Gutzman came out and danced. I would rate the show a five out of five and I definitely recommend you go and see it.
From the Northport Journal: Junie B. Jones The Musical incorporates themes from numerous books in the top-selling children’s series, beginning with a peek into the "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal" of the outspoken and lovable Junie B. We had the pleasure of seeing the musical with our daughters and agree with Abigail: children – and their adults – don’t want to miss this show!
Junie B. Jones The Musical will play every weekend in August, Saturdays at 11am and Sundays at 10:30am. Tickets are $20 for all performances and may be purchased by calling 631-261-2900, going online at www.engemantheater.com, or by visiting the Engeman Theater Box Office at 250 Main Street in Northport.
