First responders to be honored during special faith program at Trinity Episcopal

This image of St. Michael the Archangel was painted and shared by Nancy and Bob Hendrick of Trinity Community Art Center. The full painting will be revealed at a special faith program honoring first responders on September 29.
Current and retired first responders from across Long Island, along with their families and friends, are invited to attend a special mass at Trinity Episcopal Church in Northport on Monday, September 29 at 6:30pm.
The special faith program will honor the selfless service provided daily by first responders in local communities.
The mass will celebrate the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, the patron and protector of first responders. Father Andrew Garnett will officiate at the service in the historic building.
“Saint Michael the Archangel is most often depicted as a warrior and protector. He is the patron saint who protects first responders, including those in the military, Coast Guard, law enforcement, paramedics, firefighters, and all those who work in dangerous conditions,” Father Garnett said. “It makes sense for us to show our appreciation to these brave individuals while we are celebrating the annual feast of St Michael. We encourage everyone to join us in praying for the safety of these heroes who protect us every day.”
As part of the preparations, local artists Nancy and Bob Hendrick have created a painting of St. Michael that will be unveiled that Monday and displayed at the church’s Trinity Community Art Center.
People of any and all faith backgrounds are invited to attend. A reception follows the service during which an award will be presented to the Northport fire and rescue squads in appreciation for their service.
