An East Northport Middle School math teacher is getting recognized – again  – for his positive influence on the school community and its students. Glenn Kubik will receive the Lifetime of Leading Award from his alma mater, St. Joseph’s University, at the annual Esse Non Videri Gala Awards at the Garden City Hotel in Garden City this Friday, November 8.

The valedictorian of his class, Kubik graduated from St. Joseph’s in 1998. He’s been a math teacher in the Northport-East Northport school district for more than 25 years.

“We are extremely proud to recognize Glenn Kubik, whose transformational thinking has made incredible impacts on his students,” said Rory Shaffer-Walsh, vice president for institutional advancement at St. Joseph’s University, New York (SJNY). “Glenn is an inspiration and we look forward to celebrating and congratulating him on his achievements.”

This latest honor is just one of a long list of accolades for Kubik. Nominated by former students for the Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher Contest and the recipient of a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science, Kubik is highly regarded in the Northport-East Northport school district and has been invited by more than 40 students to an annual event which recognizes teachers who have made a difference in students’ lives.

In 2019, MSG Networks celebrated Kubik, a consummate sports fan and Islanders fanatic, in a three-minute video showing how the math teacher integrates his passion for the Isles into his curriculum.

Kubik is dedicated to service, having created a scholarship in memory of a student who passed away from leukemia, and volunteering in a local soup kitchen and the Marty Lyons Foundation. Most recently, Kubik finished in second place nationally in the middle school category of the Teachers Federal Credit Union’s Teacher Appreciation Week contest.

The annual Esse Non Videri Gala Awards honors St. Joseph’s alumni who, throughout their careers, have demonstrated their commitment to living the five SJNY pillars of integrity, intellectual rigor, social responsibility, spiritual depth and service to their communities. Proceeds from the event benefit student scholarships for future leaders.
