Crab Meadow Beach Polar Plunge raises over $24K for Special Olympics New York

The Town of Huntington Polar Plunge took place on the morning of Sunday, December 10 at Crab Meadow Beach. The event included about 200 brave plungers and raised over $24,000 for Special Olympics New York.
Special Olympics New York provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and participate in sports activities with their friends, family and community.
Teams from throughout the Town of Huntington participated this year, including registrants from Northport-East Northport, Harborborfields, Elwood and South Huntington school districts. “The Chillers,” a team made up by TOH Councilman Sal Ferro, Northport resident Sharon Richmond and others, raised the most funds of all community groups at $4,891. John’s Crazy Socks lead the corporate teams with donations exceeding $3,000. John Cronin, who operates John’s Crazy Socks with his father, Mark, participated in the plunge and donated polar bear socks to all registrants. John Glenn High School was the highest earning school at $5,700.
