East Northport residents Samantha and Matthew Bruckenthal welcomed their son Charlie to the world on New Year’s Day. He is the first baby born at Stony Brook University Hospital in 2025.

Weighing 6 pounds, 4 ounces, Charlie was born at 3:16am, just three hours into the start of the new year. Charlie was delivered by Leah Kaufman, MD, Eliza Hammes, RN, and Vanessa Boser, RN.

This is the first child for the Bruckenthals, and the grandson of Patricia Bruckenthal, Dean of the School of Nursing at Stony Brook University. Matt Bruckenthal is a sergeant in the Northport Village Police Department, and son of former Northport Village Police Chief Ric Bruckenthal, who retired in 2015.
