Registration for Great Cow Harbor 10K, scheduled for Sept. 20, now open
A view from the Great Cow Harbor 10K starting line yesterday, September 23. Approximately 3,560 of the 5,000 registered participants took to the streets of Northport despite forecasts of heavy rain and wind.

It’s that time of year again, when both avid runners and those who have always wanted to be a part of the largest running race on Long Island can register for the Great Cow Harbor 10K.

One of the most prestigious 10Ks in the country, the Great Cow Harbor 10K Run will be held on Saturday, September 20. Registration opened on March 20. Runner’s World has named the run one of the top 100 races in the US, and New England Runner regularly places it in its Top 100 Races, referring to it as a “big race atmosphere in a small town.” The race, which attracts elite and competitive runners, joggers and those scratching the race off their bucket list, sells out every year (so register soon!).

A 2K Fun Run/Walk will also take place on race day, a manageable and spirited run for beginners and experienced athletes of all ages. Over 1,000 runners are expected to run in the 2K, while 5,000 people are expected to run the 10K.

Information about the race as well as sponsorship and volunteer opportunities can be found here. Early bird pricing is in effect until May 1. Register here.
