Something new is in store for Crab Meadow, and it’s bringing an elevated perspective to Northport – and the Town of Huntington's – most popular swimming beach.

Curious onlookers may recall seeing the construction atop La Casa Cafe’s outdoor seating area begin months ago. According to Lauren Lembo, the TOH Public Information Officer, the area is slated to become an observation deck and is not affiliated with the restaurant.

According to Lembo, the observation deck is part of a larger “pavilion repair project” that will soon be completed. The observation deck, however, will not be open to the public until a final waterproofing of the area is finished, and is anticipated to be ready for use by next summer.

A similar notice to bidders to waterproof the pavilion’s roofing was presented by the Town of Huntington in 2016. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
