This year, the Great Cow Harbor 10K Run is, like years past, capped at 5,000 registrants. According to Northport Village Trustee and longtime race volunteer Rich Boziwick, the first 1,000 spots for the 2026 race were claimed in just four hours, from noon to 4pm on March 19, the day registration opened. There are currently less than 400 spots left.

This is your sign to register now.

Recognized by Runner’s World as one of the most prestigious 10Ks in the country and praised by New England Runner as a “winner” with a “big race atmosphere in a small town on the Island,” the 10K consistently sells out.

The 2026 Great Cow Harbor 10K Run will be held on Saturday, September 19, with an 8:30am start for the first group, with second and subsequent waves released every minute after the starters. The race attracts elite and competitive runners, joggers and those scratching the race off their bucket list; a 2K Fun Run/Walk will also take place on race day, a manageable and spirited 1.2-mile run for athletes of all ages.

In 2022, Biya Simbassa set a 10K course record, completing the race in just 28:13. Last year’s 10K champions Anthony Rotich and Ednah Kurgat finished in 28:27 and 32:11, respectively. In 2025, 2250 runners completed the race in less than an hour, with the last group of participants  crossing the finish line in two hours.

The atmosphere at the race is well-known in Northport, with thousands of spectators lining the course to cheer runners on.

Information about the race, including FAQs and sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, can be found here. Early bird pricing is in effect until May 1. Register here
