AWAREness: Anti-vaping sticker campaign hits TOH’s parks and beaches
Similar to its recent initiative that put stickers (pictured) in the restrooms of local businesses, AWARE Drug and Alcohol Coalition has now partnered with the TOH to place themed stickers in public parks and beaches.
A new public awareness campaign aimed at reducing youth vaping and promoting healthier community spaces has launched, thanks to a partnership between AWARE Drug & Alcohol Community Coalition and the Town of Huntington (TOH).
Beginning this month, approved “Please Do Not Vape” stickers will be displayed in restroom facilities at TOH beaches and parks. The initiative is designed to provide a visible reminder of the health risks associated with vaping while reinforcing community expectations for vape-free public spaces.
“Vaping is harmful, especially for our young people. It can affect brain development, increase the risk of addiction, and lead to serious long-term health consequences. By placing these awareness stickers in beach, park and public facility bathrooms, we are meeting people where they are with a clear and direct message: education matters, prevention works and our community is committed to protecting the health and safety of our residents,” said Councilwoman Theresa Mari.
The campaign reflects a shared commitment between AWARE and the TOH to address youth vaping through prevention, education and community engagement. “Sometimes the most effective prevention message is the most straightforward one. These stickers serve as a visible reminder that vaping is not harmless and that our community values healthy, vape-free environments,” said Linda Oristano, AWARE’s executive director. “We are grateful to the Town of Huntington for their partnership and for helping normalize vape-free spaces throughout our community.”
This campaign follows an AWARE initiative that placed “No Vaping” stickers in the restrooms of local businesses.
