Annual garden tour aims to be a celebration of beauty, history and “America 250”
The Northport Historical Society and Museum’s annual garden tour features every year local gardens that inspire with their distinct personalities and design aesthetics. This year’s tour is on Sunday, June 14.
The Northport Historical Society and Museum’s annual garden tour is arriving earlier in the season this year, offering visitors the rare opportunity to experience a different array of blooms, textures and vibrant late-spring landscapes at their peak.
With the theme “America 250,” this year’s tour pays homage to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, celebrating the beauty, ingenuity and enduring spirit of America through six exceptional private gardens in and around Northport.
Guests will enjoy an exclusive self-guided journey through a collection of horticultural showcases, each reflecting the creativity and vision of their homeowners. Highlights include a garden at a historic estate; a thoughtfully curated native plant garden and flourishing vegetable garden; a striking garden with sculptures and artistic installations; elegant water features; serene outdoor retreats; and beautiful roses in peak bloom.
Each property offers its own distinct personality and design aesthetic, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for garden lovers, history enthusiasts and admirers of extraordinary outdoor spaces.
“Each garden on this year’s tour offers something truly special and inspiring,” said Carolyn P. Hyatt-Basche, Northport Historical Society board president, horticulturist, landscape designer and member of the Asharoken Garden Club.
“From breathtaking landscapes and unique plantings to creative outdoor spaces filled with character and charm, this year’s tour beautifully reflects the spirit of our community and the creativity of the homeowners. We are especially excited to celebrate the ‘America 250’ theme through gardens that honor both history and natural beauty.”
The afternoon concludes with refreshments and raffles, offering guests an opportunity to
relax, reflect and celebrate after an inspiring day of exploration.
