The 15th annual Huntington Lighthouse Musicfest, organized by the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society, will take place this Saturday, August 31 from 11am to dusk. The event draws thousands of boats, kayaks and other watercraft to the off-shore lighthouse for a lively and unique musical event, and is the largest fundraiser for the non-profit each year.
Funds raised during the festival allow for the continued preservation of the lighthouse, which is used as an educational and historic resource as well as an active aid to navigation in Huntington Harbor.
Recently, volunteers rolled t-shirts and stuffed bags that will be sold to attendees out on the water. Also for sale will be hats and 50/50 raffle tickets. This year, to assure that all fest-goers have access to these items, supporters are able to purchase merch in advance every day until Friday, August 30 from 8am to 4pm at the West Shore Marina, located at 100 West Shore Road in Huntington. Supporters can also make an online donation here.
To maintain the safety of all boaters and Musicfest participants, the Town of Huntington and the Greater Huntington Council of Yacht and Boating Clubs have released a map with speed restrictions and emergency pickup stations. Beginning the evening of August 30, the area surrounding the lighthouse will be a temporary 5MPH zone, lasting until August 31 at 10pm. The safety map can be found here.
The rain date for the 2024 Musicfest is Sunday, September 1. For more information about the event, visit the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society’s website.
