Work on Sunrise of East Northport resumes; old farmhouse to be preserved

Work on the property at the corner of Pulaski and Old Bridge Road has resumed, with cleanup and restoration of an old farmhouse on the easternmost part of the land currently taking place.
Construction of Sunrise of East Northport, an 86-unit assisted living and memory care facility, is slated to begin by late fall, Sunrise Senior Living officials told the Journal.
The farmhouse is being preserved as part of the development, “honoring the history and character of the site,” Philip Kroskin, head of real estate and SVP investments at Sunrise said.
A site plan application for the facility was approved by the Town of Huntington’s planning board in October of 2022 but plans were paused shortly thereafter due to overall economic uncertainty.
“We are very excited about what we’re bringing to East Northport," Kroskin said. “Since the original approval, we’ve taken the opportunity to enhance the plans to better reflect the needs of local seniors.”
The updated community features one- and two-bedroom residences, including some with private balconies “thoughtfully designed for the downsizing households in this area who want to remain close to family while enjoying a premium level of care, service and comfort,” Kroskin added.
According to recent census data reports, there are now over 520,000 residents aged 65 and older living on Long Island, representing a 24% increase over a ten-year period and all-time high for the region. “Sunrise has deep roots here – operating ten communities across Long Island,” Kroskin said. “We know this market, we know these families, and we are committed to delivering a community that truly serves them.”
