This Saturday: Harry Potter Day brings events for all ages to Northport Village

Pete Gallo, Carol Taylor and John Daniello of History Repeatin' are hosting Harry Potter Day this Saturday, August 2 in Northport Village.

Calling all witches, wizards, and magical dreamers. History Repeatin’ is inviting Harry Potter fans to grab their wands and head to Northport Village for an enchanting, Village-wide celebration honoring the birthday of “The Boy Who Lived.” The day of wizarding fun will also give back to a good cause; a portion of proceeds supports Canine Companions, a nonprofit organization helping provide trained assistance dogs to individuals in need.

Event highlights and itinerary include:

The Great Wizarding Quest (all ages),  11am-1pm
A captivating scavenger-hunt adventure designed for the whole family. Travelers of all ages will embark on a town-wide quest featuring magical clues and spellbinding prizes. Tickets are a recommended donation of $5/child.

Sorting Ceremony (all ages),  12-12:45pm
Will you be a brave Gryffindor? A cunning Slytherin? A scholarly Ravenclaw? A loyal Hufflepuff? The Sorting Hat decides!

The Hogsmeade Crawl (21+ only), 1:30-3:30pm
Adult witches and wizards can join in the celebration during this Harry Potter themed trivia pub crawl. After a pre-crawl sorting ceremony, attendees will play for house points in this spirited competition filled with trivia, games, themed cocktails, food specials and prizes. Tickets are $30/person.

Participants of all ages can stop in Einstein's Attic and Northport Books throughout the day for fun Harry Potter surprises as well. Other participating businesses include SweetArts, where kids can create their own Harry Potter keepsake (an optional activity with an additional fee) and Lics Ice Cream, which is offering a limited run of ButterBeer ice cream from July 26 to August 2. Canine Companions, and their furry friends, will also be in the Trinity Episcopal Church courtyard during the day.

Harry Potter Day will take place on Saturday, August 2, beginning at 11am for families and 1:30pm for the adults-only pub crawl. For more information or to pre-purchase tickets (recommended) for the pub crawl, click here. Costumes are encouraged.
