Construction of a 75,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care facility on the corner of Pulaski and Old Bridge Road may begin as early as this summer. Site clearing of the property began last week.

A site plan application for the facility, Sunrise of East Northport, was approved by the Town of Huntington’s planning board in October of 2022 but plans were paused shortly thereafter due to overall economic uncertainty.

“Following 2022, development experienced a broad slowdown nationwide due to significant macroeconomic pressures. We took a disciplined approach during that period, and as conditions improve, we are pleased to move forward with this project in East Northport,” said Philip Kroskin, SVP of Real Estate for Sunrise Senior Living.

According to officials at Sunrise, the building’s design has evolved and the unit mix of assisted living and memory care residences were optimized to “better align with market demand and ensure the right balance of services and living options.”

“The need for high-quality assisted living and memory care continues to grow as the population ages, and we believe this community will provide an important option for local families seeking supportive care in a setting designed to foster connection, independence and peace of mind close to home,” Kroskin said.

Construction on the project is expected to commence this summer, with an anticipated open date in spring of 2028. An existing house on the easternmost part of the property will be restored and remain on the property, for use by Sunrise.
