Northport Books and Engeman Theater launch new literary series starting this fall

Author of Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe/psychic medium Laura Lynne Jackson (inset) kicks off The Northport Literary Series: From the Page to the Stage in October with an event at the Engeman Theater.

A new collaboration between two Northport businesses will bring authors, personalities and other cultural voices to the community through a series of in-person conversations, beginning with New York Times bestselling author and psychic medium Laura Lynne Jackson.

The Northport Literary Series: From the Page to the Stage is presented by Northport Books in partnership with the John W. Engeman Theater. The inaugural event with Jackson is scheduled for Monday, October 12 at 6pm at the Engeman Theater.

Jennifer McAuliffe, owner of Northport Books, said the series grew out of a desire to bring the bookstore’s author events into a larger community setting – to give readers a chance to hear the stories, inspiration and conversations behind the books. “I created From the Page to the Stage because I wanted to take what we do at Northport Books beyond the walls of the bookstore and create something really special for our community,” McAuliffe said. She hopes to continue growing the series, bring more local businesses into the collaboration and establish Northport as a literary destination.

During the October 12 event, Jackson, author of Signs: The Secret Language of the UniverseThe Light Between Us: Stories from Heaven; and Lessons for the Living and Guided: The Secret Path to an Illuminated Life, will discuss her books, her experiences as a medium and her newest release, Guided. The evening will include a moderated conversation followed by an audience Q&A.

Doors open at 6pm, with the conversation beginning at 6:30pm. Audience Q&A will follow at 7pm, and a VIP meet-and-greet and signing will take place from 7:30 to 8:15pm.

Every ticket includes a pre-signed copy of Guided. Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase Jackson’s previous titles at the event.

General admission tickets are $49, with a portion of each ticket supporting the Engeman Theater’s charitable initiatives. A limited number of $99 VIP tickets are available and include premium seating, a meet-and-greet, personal book signing and a behind-the-scenes reception.

Tickets are available through the John W. Engeman Theater or by calling the box office at 631-261-2900.
