John W. Engeman Theater in Northport has announced its 2026-27 Children’s Theater season, featuring six productions inspired by favorite movies, classic fairy tales and well-known children’s stories.
The season opens with Finding Nemo, running September 26 through October 25. This 60-minute family musical is based on the Pixar film and follows Marlin and Dory as they embark on an ocean adventure to find Nemo.
For the holiday season, Frosty takes the stage November 21 through December 27, following Jenny and her frosty friend as they work together to save their snowy hometown.
Looking into 2027, Disney’s Frozen Jr. will run January 30 through February 28, bringing the story of sisters Anna and Elsa to life with many of the songs from the popular animated film.
From March 20 through April 25, young theatergoers can enjoy Seussical TYA, a musical inspired by the world of Dr. Seuss. The story follows Horton the Elephant as he protects the tiny Whos while discovering the importance of friendship, loyalty and imagination.
The classic fairy tale Rapunzel follows May 22 through June 27, telling the story of the long-haired princess as she ventures beyond her tower for the first time.
Rounding out the season next summer is Madagascar, running July 17 through August 22. Based on the DreamWorks animated movie, the musical follows Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman and the mischievous penguins on their adventure from New York’s Central Park Zoo to Madagascar.
Want to head to the theater soon? Before the new season begins, families can still catch this summer’s production of Shrek, running through August 23. Based on the hit animated film, the musical follows a grumpy green ogre whose quiet life is turned upside down when a cast of fairy tale characters arrives at his swamp.
