Lewis Oliver Farm Sanctuary, the happy Northport Village home to Annabelle the cow and many other rescued animals, has been selected as this month’s beneficiary of the Stop & Shop Community Bag Program. Launched in May 2019, the Stop & Shop program makes it easy for residents to support local nonprofits with the goal of making a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.
The farm was selected as the program’s beneficiary by store leadership at the Stop & Shop located on Fort Salonga Road in Northport – it will receive a $1 donation every time a $2.50 “Give Back” reusable bag is purchased at this location during November (unless otherwise directed by the customer through the giving tag attached to the bag).
Lewis Oliver Farm Sanctuary is “extremely grateful to be chosen as the beneficiary of November’s Stop and Shop Bag Program,” said the farm in its official statement. “Every penny donated goes directly to the animals to keep them happy, healthy and well cared for.”
While the farm sanctuary was founded in 2007, the property’s history as a local landmark dates back to the mid-1800s. Lewis Oliver is now a small family of rescued farmed animals, cared for by volunteers and the community, via donations.
