Dear Editor:

I want to thank the members of the Northport-East Northport community for allowing me to serve on the Board of Education for the past three years and humbly ask that they vote to send me for another three-year term.

During my time on the board, we have tackled massive issues, including roof reconstruction and student relocation at Ocean Avenue; environmental questions, testing, closure, relocation, and remediation at Northport Middle School; pandemic shutdown, remote learning, and reopening, district-wide; settlement of the decades-old LIPA litigation in partnership with the Town of Huntington; and district reorganization to name just a few.

As the Board of Education continues to build a strong working relationship as a governance team, I am excited about our progress and ability to deliver for our students and community.

I want to thank all the candidates for putting themselves forward. I would respectfully request the community return me (Thomas Loughran), Larry Licopoli, and Allison Noonan for another term on the Board of Education. Please vote on May 17th.
