The Handler Hope Foundation works to change the course of cancer with first major fundraiser

The Handler Hope Foundation is on a mission to change the course of cancer and on Thursday, August 25 will host its first signature fundraiser, “A Night Out With 1North.” The event will offer a night of fun and appreciation for the frontline cancer caregivers at Huntington Hospital, while raising money for cancer research.

A nonprofit located in Northport Village, the Handler Hope Foundation’s core focus is raising money for cancer – to change the course of the disease and its imposition on those impacted by it – by funding dynamic research that will help with early detection, monitoring, and best practices.

One of the foundation’s initial achievements included the purchase of a new sleeper chair for the hospital’s cancer center. The chair is multifunctional – it provides a high level of comfort for a loved one sleeping over with someone being treated, and can also be used by the patient for physical therapy, transport, or other activities.

“A Night Out With 1North” will take place on Thursday, August 25 at 5pm, at Repeal XVIII in Huntington Village. There will be entertainment, billiards, food and drinks, tarot card readings and raffles for Jets tickets, a weekend at Foxwoods, local restaurant gift cards, and more. Tickets cost $100 and can be purchased here; ticket sales will also allow 1North employees to attend the event for free, as a “much deserved thank you,” while raising funds to help further the foundation’s mission.
