Presented by the Northport Arts Coalition, Happenings on Main Street features The Toby Tobias Ensemble. Under the direction of the South African-born guitarist and composer Toby Tobias, The Toby Tobias Ensemble plays modern folk and jazz, influenced by funk and world rhythms. The fantastic arrangements and joyful, exhilarating sounds of the band inspire and entertain. The Toby Tobias Ensemble performs in duo, trio and larger configurations, and includes several well-known New York-based musicians. Bring lawn chairs or blankets, picnicking is encouraged!

Poets in Port with Carlo Frank Calo

Presented by the Northport Arts Coalition, Poets in Port is poetry with a twist. Each month a featured poet reads some of their work and speaks with the audience about their process. This month, meet Carlo Frank Calo,a grandson of Sicilian immigrants, husband, father, grandfather, born in East Harlem and raised in the Bronx projects. He holds a Masters Degree in health care administration and retired on Long Island after a 50-year career. He enjoys fishing, bicycling, poker, working part-time counseling TBI survivors, babysitting his grandchildren, and writing eclectically. This is a free event. See northportarts.org for more info.

Remembering 9/11: A Discussion with Darryl St. George

The Northport Historical Society will be hosting a discussion led by Darryl St. George, veteran United States Naval Corpsman and current Northport High School history teacher, on the events surrounding the September 11th attacks. “Remembering 9/11: A Discussion with Darryl St. George” is free with online registration. Hans Christian Anderson Group Exhibition

Haven Gallery presents a visual interpretation of the stories, characters and aesthetics of Danish author Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tales. “Iconic Northport,” an exhibit now open at the Northport Historical Society features the history behind Northport's most iconic landmarks, businesses and traditions, including the LILCO stacks, the trolley tracks, Jones Drug Store and Cow Harbor Day. The museum’s first ever interactive exhibit, each icon has its own QR code that offers users a short video containing extra photos and interesting facts. There is also a selfie station, where visitors can become a customer of Jones Drug Store's old soda fountain.

Our Town with Edie Falco and Chris Messina

John W. Engeman Theater, 250 Main Street, Northport
Tickets are still available for a special fundraising event featuring Broadway and Hollywood stars Marin Ireland, Matthew Del Negro, Liza Colón-Zayas as well as one-time locals Edie Falco and Chris Messina. The two Northport natives will lead a staged reading of Thornton Wilder's classic American play Our Town, produced by the family of Philip and Phyllis Messina. All proceeds from the performance will benefit Northwell Health's Huntington Hospital's Neurosurgery Department. To learn more about this special evening and to purchase tickets, click here.
