NNGI Celebrates Earth Day

A Visit from the Easter Bunny
Saturday, April 16 from 1-4pm
The Easter Bunny, escorted by familiar Northport Village face Bruce Adams in his Model A Ford, will be on Main Street in downtown Northport Village on Saturday, April 16 from 1-4pm! The duo will begin their run at Copenhagen Bakery, before making their way up Main Street.

Tennis, Anyone?

Get back in the swing of things with a free membership to Long Island’s Huntington Tennis Association (HTA) for the 2022 spring/summer season. HTA membership is open to all levels, from beginner to advanced. As an incentive, the HTA is waiving the annual membership fee this year (normally priced at $25 for individuals/$35 for families). The free membership entitles members to play on as many ladders as they want, with matches running from April 15 through September 30, 2022 in and around the Huntington area (Huntington residency is not required). Players choose where they want to play their matches.

Ink’d Open Studio
Tuesday-Thursday, April 19-21 from 10am-12pm
In the same style of its Freestyle Fridays, Ink’d Art Studio is opening its doors for three days of spring break. All supplies will be provided for freestyle exploration; there will be no guided lesson. Kids will have an opportunity to work in various mediums, exploring their creativity while socializing with peers. Ages 5+, choose any or all dates, $25 a session.

Sunflowers for Ukraine Paint Event
Wednesday, April 20 from 12-2pm
The Northport Historical Society is hosting a fun afternoon painting session for children and adults, with 50% of the proceeds going to help those in need in Ukraine. Each child and adult pair will paint their own canvas with sunflowers on a “starry night” background. Step-by-step painting instructions will be provided by artist Caitlyn Shea. Additional monetary donations for Ukraine are welcome at time of registration or at the museum on the day of the event. This event is open to ages 8+ with a parent/guardian.

Vanderbilt Museum: Too Much to List!
April 18, 19 and 20 from 10am-12pm
Check out the Vanderbilt Musueum’s workshop offerings for kids in K-4 over spring break on its website. Workshop topics include pollinators and plants, butterfly life cycles, and invertebrates and bugs. Choose any or all workshops, $20 per child.

A Bronx Tale: The Musical

Based on Chazz Palminteri’s classic movie, this streetwise musical will take you to the stoops of the Bronx in the 1960s—where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he’d love to be. Featuring a doo-wop score, A BRONX TALE: THE MUSICAL is a story about respect, loyalty, love, and above all else: family.

On Cloud 9 at Firefly
Through April 27
A juried exhibition hosted by The Firefly Artists, On Cloud 9 focuses on the ever-shifting sky and images of fog and farther out nebulae, and features artists living on Long Island and in the surrounding region. The exhibition will hang through April 27 in The Darcy Center, in the location’s expanded gallery space.
Where: The Firefly Artists, 162 Main Street, Northport
Please note, the Darcy Arts Center is located on the second floor of the historic building that houses the gallery. Unfortunately, there is no handicapped access to this exhibition.
