Spooky Jewelry Pop-Up Shop
Saturday, October 8, 11am-3pm
Nest on Main, 135 Main Street
Join Lisa Mignoli of Metrix Jewelry and get in the spirit of Halloween with modern metalwork jewelry pieces that are dainty, dark and perfect for spooky season. After working in visual merchandising for a large teen retailer, Lisa wanted to move away from mass-market accessories and embrace a handmade culture. As a native New Yorker, Lisa is used to living in a fast-paced environment, and in a world that is changing, she finds comfort working with geometric shapes since they offer a sense of stability. Her designs have been seen on pop star Katy Perry, on the cover of Harpers Bazaar Kazakhstan, and on the hit show How to Get Away with Murder. Check out Nest on Main’s newsletter for more seasonal events and workshops.

The Firefly Artists: Grand Opening Celebration
Saturday, October 8, 5-7pm
The Firefly Artists, 90 Main Street, Northport
Last month, a challenge to their lease caused The Firefly Artists to take on an unanticipated and daunting move down Main Street. This month, Firefly members are pleased to celebrate (with the community that supported them!) the opening celebration of their new location, 90 Main Street, in Northport Village. Featured at this event will be a silent auction to not only benefit The Firefly, but to raise scholarship funds for the NYS Art Teachers Association (NYSATA). “This story is about the power of community to keep places we love alive,” said Firefly Managing Partner Katheryn Laible. “We could never afford to fight our old landlords. Just walking away was incredibly expensive and intensely disruptive. However, thanks to robust support, starting with our amazing Fireflies, we now get to celebrate an amazing new location!”
