Happy hour tonight: local photographer showcases familiar images in thoughtful ways

An instantly recognizable Northport location as photographed by Alicia Edwards.

A happy hour reception for local photographer Alicia Edwards will take place this evening, September 15, from 5-7pm at Seven Quarts Tavern in Northport.

Alicia will be present to meet-and-greet local residents and fans at the “uptown” (Route 25A) restaurant, where her thoughtful images of familiar spots will be on display.

A Commack resident, artist and photographer, Alicia enjoys sharing the beauty in everyday and often overlooked places and things in Long Island, including in Northport. Her subjects include everything from flowers and fungi to trees, architecture, marina scenes and graffiti.

Aesthetically, Seven Quarts complements her vision with its organic materials, brick walls, copper, and wooden decor, Alicia explains. “Now more than ever, we need to contrast the recent ugliness we’ve all suffered through and be more aware of the natural beauty that has been surrounding us this whole time,” she said. “While the world paused I felt that I needed to create positive, uplifting and fresh images of our collective backyard.”

Alicia’s photography is available for sale and will be on display in the upstairs restaurant until the end of October. Seven Quarts Tavern is located at 688 Fort Salonga Road in Northport.
