Crowds gather at concerts in park, Northport author to host book signing, and more local events

Book release: Seventh-Inning Stretch: Reflections on the Game of Life

Join Nest on Main to celebrate the book release of local Northport author Dennis Labriola’s Seventh-Inning Stretch: Reflections on the Game of Life. Dennis is excited to share his debut collection of humorous short stories to inspire faith and at the book release, where he will do a brief reading followed by a Q&A. He will also be available to sign copies of his work.

Dennis lives in Fort Salonga with his wife, Patty, co-author of the children's book, The Yawn that Went Around the World. A men’s ministry coach, Dennis is a businessman and founder of an IT company providing public safety software applications throughout New York State. He also served on the board of LISTnet as well as the Applied Science Foundation for Homeland Security. Over the years, Dennis kept written accounts of the experiences that transformed his life, and one was about the first time his father brought him to a major league baseball game. His wife, Patty, suggested he share this story which inspired him to write Seventh-Inning Stretch: Reflections on the Game of Life.

Your tour guide will share the rich history of Northport Harbor as you cruise along the waterfront for a new perspective on the Village. Then stay on at the dock for drinks and a bite after your cruise. There are two dates (August 4 has very limited availability) and multiple launch times to choose from. Tickets are $50/members and $60/non-members and are available here.

“Iconic Northport,” an exhibit now open at the Northport Historical Society features the history behind Northport's most iconic landmarks, businesses and traditions, including the LILCO stacks, the trolley tracks, Jones Drug Store and Cow Harbor Day. The museum’s first ever interactive exhibit, each icon has its own QR code that offers users a short video containing extra photos and interesting facts. There is also a selfie station, where visitors can become a customer of Jones Drug Store's old soda fountain.
