Night at the Museum Halloween Costume Party
Thursday, October 13, 7-10pm
Northport Historical Society, 215 Main Street, Northport
Tickets are still available for the Northport Historical Society's first ever Halloween costume party. Featuring music from DJ Stephen Lombardo, tarot card readings, Halloween trivia, raffles and more. Northport artist Nicolas Bruno will also make a special appearance to discuss his Somnia Tarot project, featured all month long in the museum’s pop-up exhibit space. Open to the public; costumes are encouraged. Guests 21 years or older should register for the event here. Tickets are $13 per person.

Guitarist Francisco Roldán will perform an all-Latin program which is virtuosic as well as diverse, rhythmic, and melodious. Journey via guitar through Argentina, Cuba, Columbia, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Experience tango, joropo, milonga and other Latin American musical forms. John Lazzaro: A Vanishing New York Book Signing and Reception

For the first special exhibition in their new space, The Firefly Artists call on author, photographer, documentary filmmaker (and fellow Firefly) John Lazzaro, who draws upon his experiences from documentary filmmaking in order to create a realistic, visual, and thought-provoking dialogue of the macabre. John will be signing copies of his book, A Vanishing New York: Ruins Across the Empire State, at the gallery this weekend, with the opportunity to view his solo show.

This weekend Nest will be hosting The Next Chapter, an independent bookstore created in the spirit of Huntington’s Book Revue, for a special weekend pop-up shop. Mary Martin was America’s favorite leading lady of musicals. Though she appeared on radio and in films, her greatest triumphs were on stage. She memorably created the roles of Nellie Forbush in South Pacific and Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and she played the title role in Peter Pan on stage and television. Beauty and the Beast

This Disney love story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the hideous Beast, a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved the curse will end. If he does not learn his lesson before the last enchanted rose petal falls, he and his household of enchanted objects will be doomed for all eternity. Enjoy the songs we all love such as “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast”. Performances are on Saturdays at 11am and Sundays at 10:30am; tickets are $20 each.
